Between 2012 and 2021, the average breast cancer rates by region per 100,000 ranged from 125 in the West to 134 in the Northeast, with the South (126) and the Midwest (131) falling in between.
Using a one-way ANOVA followed by pairwise comparisons with Tukey’s HSD test, we found that:
- The breast cancer rates in the Northeast were significantly higher than both the West and South.
- The Midwest had significantly higher breast cancer rates than the West.
- The differences between the pairs Northeast/Midwest, South/Midwest, and West/South were not significant.
