Tourism in the Philippines followed a steady upward trend from 2009 until it reached a peak in 2019. This growth was sharply interrupted starting in 2020, with a dramatic decline that coincides with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. A modest recovery is evident in 2022, suggesting a gradual reopening and renewed confidence in travel to the country.

In 2022, the country recorded a total of 2.6 million international arrivals, surpassing the projected 1.7 million, and generated a tourism revenue of $3.68 billion, with hopes that this upward trend will continue. According to the Philippine News Agency, the top three markets were the United States (505,089), South Korea (428,014), and Australia (137,974).
